Pre-Fabrication/Production Requirements

Inspection & Testing Plan (ITP) Vendor shall present ITP to SA Inspection Representative for Approval
Raw Material Verification 01-SAMSS-333 and ISO3183/API5L
CEPC System Verification CEPC shall be capable of continuous monitoring and recording of heat input and seam heat treatment variables with alarm and automatic pipe marking for all pipes produced
Manufacturing Procedure Qualification (MPQ) Review Company approval status of MPQ and welding process control limits. See 01-SAMSS-333; Annex B
In process inspection & test requirement Specification Details / Notes:
Material Test Reports The certificates to be provided are of the ISO 10474 Type 3.1.B including product analysis.
Heat Treatment of Weld Seam Verify heat treatment graph and records. Full width and thickness of the weld seam shall be heat treated.
Chemical Composition: Heat & Product Analysis 01-SAMSS-333 Section 9.2 And API5L/ISO3183 table 5 and annex H and/or J as applicable
Mechanical Properties and Tests:
a)  Flattening Tests 01-SAMSS-333 Section 9.6; Classes B & C requirements.
b)  Fracture Toughness Tests (CVN & DWT) The CVN energy values for class IV services shall be as specified in the purchase orders. DWT test is only required for Class IV service for all line pipe grades having diameter ? 20″.
c)  Weld Microstructure Test Frequency and Preparation. 01-SAMSS-333  Section 10.2.5 & ASTM E112
d)  Hardness Tests Only Vickers Hardness Testers shall be used. Maximum acceptable hardness is 240 HV using a 10 Kg load.
e)  Tensile Test 01-SAMSS-333 & API Spec 5L/ISO3183
Hydrogen Induced Cracking Test 01-SAMSS-333; Annex H. Follow IR010210
Sulfide Stress Cracking Test 01-SAMSS-333; Annex H, Required only for Class C service.
Grooving Corrosion Resistance Test 01-SAMSS-333; Annex H, Required only for Class C service.
Hydrostatic Tests Required test pressure shall be determined using minimum wall thickness and a hoop stress of at least 95% (100% for Class C services) of the SMYS of pipe.
Guided-Bend Test 01-SAMSS-333, Required only for Class C service.
Nondestructive Testing Requirements:
a)  Ultrasonic examination (UT) of Weld Seam 01-SAMSS-333; Annex E or K (where applicable), UT to be carried out after hydrostatic testing.
b)  Ultrasonic examination (UT) of Skelp or Pipe Body 01-SAMSS-333; Annex E or K (where applicable)
c)  Ultrasonic examination (UT) of Pipe ends 01-SAMSS-333; Annex E or K (where applicable), Full circumference of the pipe ends shall be UT inspected.
d) Laminar imperfections along the strip edges or areas adjacent to the weld seam API5L/ISO3183 annex E or K as applicable

Final inspection & test requirements

Visual Inspection 01-SAMSS-333 and API Spec.5L/SO 3183
Coating Pipe shall be supplied w/o mill coating unless otherwise specified in P.O.
Marking 01-SAMSS-333 Section 11.
Handling 01-SAMSS-333 & 01-SAMSS-024.
API Certificate

  • May only be waived by the responsible Saudi Aramco, ASC, or AOC Inspection
