Notes | – | Where physical shape and thermal requirements of the equipment to be insulated are compatible with particular designs of panel insulation systems, field labor can be considerably reduced. Panel systems are more abuse-resistant than conventional insulation systems, thus protecting the integrity of the insulation and reducing continuing maintenance costs. Preferred panel insulation systems are completely designed by their manufacturer or vendor to provide for satisfactory panel support, corners, and other changes in geometry, guttering, expansion and contraction, metal flashing at doors and other penetration of the panels, removable panels on doors and other access covers, and prevention of ‘chimney’ effect. Drawings shall be prepared by contractor to clearly define the limits or scope of the contractor’s work and account for the above conditions. These drawings will aid in any future maintenance work. Panel insulation systems are for equipment operating above ambient temperatures. |
