This guideline establishes the requirement for proving meters that are returned to service after maintenance.

Frequency As required.

Procedure When any maintenance or inspection is performed on a meter, the meter shall be proved immediately upon being returned to service.

1. Prove the meter prior to removing from service. Note the k-factor.
2. Immediately after returning the meter to service, prove the meter.
Note the new k-factor.

3. Determine the barrels passing through the meter between the
times the meter was returned to service and when proved.
4. Take the barrels determined in Step 3 and multiply by the pulses per barrel (k-factor) in Step Prove the meter prior to removing from service. Note the k-factor. to obtain pulses.
5. Divide results of Step 4 by the pulses per barrel (new k-factor) in Step 2 to obtain barrels.
6. The adjustment to be reported is Step 5 minus Step 3.
7. Ensure the adjustment is properly documented and reported to the OCC and the Oil Movements Measurements and Scheduling Team.
