What are the applicable conditions for using wedge meters?

ISO 5167-6 is applicable only to wedge meters where the flow remains subsonic throughout the measuring section and the fluid is single-phase. Wedge meters can be used within specified limits of pipe size, roughness, β (or wedge ratio), and Reynolds number. They are not suitable for measuring pulsating flow and are not recommended for use in pipes with internal diameters less than 50 mm or greater than 600 mm, or where the pipe Reynolds numbers are below 1 × 104.
