Scope Description Low-temperature steel, forged pipe flanges, DN15 to DN600 (NPS 1/ 2 to NPS 24).
Material Specification ASTM A 350/A 350M, Grade LF2, Class 1.

Specification

ASME B16.5. Flange facing finish shall conform to ASME B16.5, Paragraph 6.4.5, unless otherwise stated in the purchase order.
Purchase Order See purchase order for flange type, DN or NPS, pressure class, flange facing, schedule or weight class or wall thickness, number of pieces, and delivery and shipping instructions.
Lengths Not applicable.
Tolerances ASME B16.5.
Drawings Not required.
Calculations Not required.
Chemical Composition ASTM A 350/A 350M, Grade LF2. (Additional requirements when purchase order originates from or is for delivery to Europe, or when mandated by the purchase order.

Also by ladle analysis the carbon content shall be 0.23% maximum and Supplementary Requirement S4 is required and CE shall be 0.45% maximum.)

Mechanical Strength ASTM A 350/A 350M, Grade LF2. [Additional requirements when purchase order originates from or is for delivery to Europe, or when mandated by the purchase order.

The maximum tensile strength shall not be more than 635 N/mm2 (92 ksi).]

Welding Not applicable.
Heat Treatment ASTM A 350/A 350M, Grade LF2. (Additional requirements when purchase order originates from or is for delivery to Europe, or when mandated by the purchase order.

All flanges shall be normalized.)

Inspection ASTM A 350/A 350M, Grade LF2. Company  inspection is not required, unless specified in the purchase order.
Testing ASTM A 350/A 350M, Grade LF2.
Examination ASTM A 350/A 350M, Grade LF2.
Certification Mill certificate or, in Europe only, inspection certificate Type 3.1 to EN 10204. Also see General Piping Material Purchase Specification.

 

Marking ASME B16.5 (MSS SP-25).

Marking shall also include the schedule or weight class or wall thickness, the heat identification, and the Commodity Code. Flanges shall be marked by clearly die stamping the outer ring of the flange. Also see 4WPI-M00001.

Protection Flanges shall be delivered free from corrosion or oxidation. A protective coating of light oil or varnish corrosion inhibitor may be used. This inhibitor shall be easily removable, and the supplier shall state with his quotation the method for removal.
Color Coding Not required.
Packing Shipment and Packing Specification for Equipment and Materials. Suitable packing shall be provided to ensure that all items arrive at the contractual point of delivery in an undamaged condition. Refer to the purchase order for specific packing standards and instructions.
Special Requirements None.

 

Application Notes

Low-temperature steel flanges, DN15 to DN600 (NPS 1/2 to NPS 24). Pressure: Ratings as per ASME B16.5. Temperature: -46° to +427°C (-50° to +800°F).

Note: This engineering specification shall be used in conjunction with General Piping Material Purchase Specification.
