SAES-L-101SAES-L-101 – Regulated Vendors List for Pipes, Fittings, Flanges and Tubes
SAES-L-100 is a standard that specifies the pipes, fittings, flanges, and tubes that are RVL (Release for Vendor’s Library) controlled in accordance with SAEP-133 requirements. This means that these items must meet certain quality and performance standards in order to be approved for use in Saudi Aramco projects.
Additionally, this standard mandates that these items must be procured from approved Saudi Aramco manufacturers, indicating that there is a specific list of manufacturers who have met the necessary criteria to supply these items for use in Saudi Aramco projects.
Restrictions for the First Order (Metallic Pipes)
The restrictions for the first order of metallic pipes from an approved manufacturer include:
A. The order should only be for non-sour service. The manufacturer may be approved for sour service after executing non-sour orders corresponding to a minimum cumulative quantity of 1000 tons. If any technical problems are reported during the execution of trial orders, it shall be reported to the Chairman of Materials and Corrosion Control Standards Committee, and it may result in delay in approval of pipes for sour service or withdrawal of approval. These requirements also apply to placing orders on vendors for the first time after removal of hold.
B. The order quantity for the first order should not exceed 10 kilometers. Any technical problems reported during the production of the first order/initial orders may result in placing the manufacturer on-hold.
C. Higher level of Inspection shall be ensured by VID.
Restriction on Manufacturing Process of SAES-L-101 PDF Download
This specification outlines various restrictions on the manufacturing process for pipes, fittings, flanges, and tubes that are purchased by Saudi Aramco.
For flanges, the manufacturer must have the necessary equipment for forging and heat treatment, and these operations must be performed in-house or in a wholly owned subsidiary approved by Saudi Aramco. Flange manufacturers are not allowed to procure rough forging for further processing, and machine shops are not considered a flange manufacturing facility. These requirements only apply to standard flanges procured in accordance with 02-SAMSS-011 and not to non-standard engineered flanges and clamp connectors.
For tubes, straight tubes must be formed, welded, drawn, extruded, non-destructively tested, hydrotested/leak tested either in-house or in a wholly owned subsidiary approved by Saudi Aramco. Outsourcing any of these operations is not acceptable. For U-tubes, bending, heat treatment, and subsequent testing can be outsourced, but approval for U-tubes will not be given to manufacturers/stockists that buy finished tubes from an approved or unapproved tube mill and carry out bending, heat treatment, and subsequent testing in-house.
All commodities covered by this specification shall be manufactured by the company that is awarded the purchase order, and it is not acceptable for the manufacturer to stamp their company’s name and logo on commodities procured as finished or semi-finished products from another manufacturer, even from Saudi Aramco approved sources. Violation of this clause may result in placing the manufacturer on hold or on permanent delinking from the procurement system.
