Scope
This Guideline provides the specification criteria for acceptable performance
of the sample receiver mixer.
Frequency Quarterly or when an error is suspected, the sample weighing system shall
be verified as per the following:
SAMPLE WEIGHING SYSTEMS GUIDELINES
EQUIPMENT:
A known weight between 5 and 20 pounds
PROCEDURE:
If work on any scale is determined to be necessary, care must be taken to
ensure sample integrity.
1) Remove the sample receiver from the scale and record the weight.
2) Place the known weight on the scale and record the weight.
3) Subtract the known weight from the weight observed in Step 2 minus the
starting weight in Step 1.
4) Divide the results in Step 3 by the known weight and multiply by 100.
5) If the results of Step 4 are greater than one percent (1%), the scale
should be repaired or replaced.
