SAMPLER CONTROLLER SETTINGS | FLOW COMPUTER

Scope
This Guideline provides the specification criteria for calculating the counter
settings to ensure a flow proportional sample for the batch period.

Frequency Settings should be entered prior to the beginning of the sample period.

SAMPLER CONTROLLER SETTINGS | FLOW COMPUTER

Procedure Terminal Systems

Calculate the setting using the following methods and use the greater of the
two setting results:

Sampler Setting

1. Obtain the estimated parcel size for the batch or sample period.

a. Divide the parcel size by 10,000.
b. Obtain the estimated maximum flow rate in barrels per hour
c. Dividing Step 1a by Step 1b will be the sampler setting.

AND

Probe Extractor Limit

2. Obtain the hour average flow rate (BPH)

a. Divide one hour flow rate by 1200 (minimum number of
samples per hour that a probe is required to deliver per 34SAMSS-525).

b.

1.

nomination.

2. Obtain
or

the

size.

3. Calculate as follows:

D = DN*SB*N \R

Where:

DN = Daily, monthly
or batch-Nomination

SB = Average Sample Bite cc
N = Number of days in sample period
D = Extractor setting
R = receiver size in cc x 80%

Verification:

1. To ensure minimum 10,000 bites.
2. To ensure the bottle does not over fill

D = DN* SB / R < 19,000

If the verifications, 1 and 2, do not hold true, contact the Custody
Measurement Unit for resolution.
