This specification covers coatings and coverages for insulation.

Material Description Aluminum sheets with 11/4 in corrugations and a protective backing on the interior surface. A more rigid material than Code 716. Finish: smooth or cross-crimped as specified on order.

The protective backing shall be 40 lb/3000 ft2 kraft paper and 3 mil polyethylene extrusion laminate heat-sealed to the aluminum sheet over the entire interface area or a minimum of 2.5 mil total thickness coextruded polyethylene and DuPont Surlyn continuously heat-sealed to the metal. The Surlyn shall be a minimum of 1 mil. The poly/kraft protective backing shall be identified on the product to indicate 3 mil polyethylene. The protective backing must qualify per SN219P. Aluminum sheeting conforms to ASTM B 209.

Self-contained adhesive is instantly activated by dipping in water. Drapes well on compound curved surfaces and around sharp corners. Compatible with most waterproofing mastics and coatings. Not recommended for use on removable-reusable covers that are handled frequently. Lagging adhesive, Code 802.1, or fibrous adhesive, Code 803, is not needed. If used, these materials will attack the glass cloth. See SES N01-F10 for metal substrate protection required.

Material Description Aluminum sheets with 11/4 in corrugations and a protective backing on the interior surface. A more rigid material than Code 716. Finish: smooth or cross-crimped as specified on order.
