Scope Description Aluminum, forged, socket-weld or screwed end pipe fittings, except union, reducing insert and swage fittings.
Material Specification ASME SB-247. (ASME SB-221, Alloy 5083, Temper O or H112 is an acceptable alternative material throughout this specification).

Alloy: 5083. Temper: H112.

ASME B16.11.

Threads shall be NPT in accordance with ASME B1.20.1, unless otherwise stated on the purchase order as ISO or BSP. When specified as ISO or BSP, then the threads shall be tapered in accordance with ISO 7/1 or BS 21 (BSP).

Chemical Composition ASME SB-247, Alloy 5083.
Mechanical Strength ASME SB-247, Alloy 5083, Temper H112.
Welding Not applicable.
Heat Treatment ASME SB-247, Alloy 5083, Temper H112. Heat treatment to ASTM B 597 (now B 918) does not apply.
Inspection ASME SB-247. Company inspection is not required, unless specified in the purchase order.
Testing ASME SB-247. No additional tests are required. Tensile survey tests are not required.
Examination ASME SB-247. Liquid penetrant examination is not required except when elbows and tees are made from ASME SB-221. They shall be subject to 100% dye penetrant examination on all internal and external surfaces. No surface breaking defects are acceptable.
Certification Mill certificate or, in Europe only, inspection certificate Type 3.1 to EN 10204. Also see General Piping Material Purchase Specification.

Certificates shall include dye penetrant examination results when applicable.

 

Marking ASME B16.11. Marking shall also include the heat identification and the Commodity Code. Also see General Piping Material Purchase Specification.
Protection ASME SB-247. Protection to ASTM B 660 is not required.
Color Coding Not required.
Packing Shipment and Packing Specification for Equipment and Materials.  Suitable packing shall be provided to ensure that all items arrive at the contractual point of delivery in an undamaged condition. Refer to the purchase order for specific packing standards and instructions.
Special Requirements The hydrogen content of the product shall not exceed 0.3 ppm by mass. The finished product shall be suitable for welding.
