Battery Room HVAC Technical Requirements

  1. Air shall not be recycled from battery rooms
  2. The bottom of the ventilation air inlet into the battery room shall not be higher than 150 mm above the floor.
  3. Air outlet of the battery room shall be located in the ceiling or its upper edge flush with the ceiling if it is located in a wall.
  4. Air inlets and outlets shall be located to provide effective cross ventilation over the batteries
  5. No false ceilings are allowed in battery rooms
  6. Pockets for collection of flammable gas within battery room ceilings shall be avoided.
    Note: If not possible, then means shall be provided to withdraw any collected flammable gas from the highest point within this ceiling pocket”
  7. The Battery Room of the Passively Cooled Communication Shelters shall be provided with a separate passive cooling system to maintain a 37°C maximum indoor air temperature.
  8. The Battery Room of the passively cooled Communication shelters shall not have any ventilation opening that would compromise the effectiveness of the passive cooling system.
