They have a great respect for the rules and laws of their artificial world, which must be followed to keep the world intact. They take great care to make sure their work is done right, never allowing any mistakes or shortcuts.
Mathematicians make a lot of useful tools and techniques to study the artificial world that they created. People often take shortcuts and make mistakes when applying mathematical rules to real-world situations, which mathematicians would not approve of.
