Copper Pipe and Brazing Wire Requirement for Water Piping and Refrigerant
There are following technical requirements
- Copper Tubing for water piping and refrigerant shall be Type “”K”” or “”L”” plain ends (Line Class 12BC0U) in accordance with ASTM B88 specifications or 90/10 Cu-Ni *(Line Class12 BD0U) in accordance with UNS-C70610 to BS 2871, Part 2 and EEMUA Publication No. 144, Section 1 specifications.
- For application where higher strength or increased erosion resistance is required, alternative copper alloy material (70/30 Copper Nickel or approved equal) may be used. “
- Copper drainage tube (DWV) for Sanitary Drainage, Waste and Vent shall be in accordance with ASTM B-306-02 (UPC table 14)
- All hard drawn copper tubing shall be marked by means of a continuous and indelibly coloured stripe at least one quarter (ΒΌ) inch (6.4 mm) in width, as follows: Type K, green; Type L, blue; Type M, red; Type DWV, yellow. (UPC Para 604.3)
- Fitting shall be in accordance with ASME B 16.22 for solder or brazed joint.
- Brazing wire for different services shall be as shown in Table below:
