1.1 This specification covers aluminum-alloy pipe and extruded tube in chosen alloys and tempers and in commonplace sizes as proven within the tables in Appendix X1. This pipe and tube is meant to be used in structural functions comparable to freeway and bridge rails, chain-link fence posts, handrails, signal buildings, awning helps, lighting brackets, and so on. Structural pipe and tube isn’t meant for fluid-carrying functions involving strain.
NOTE 1—For drawn seamless tube utilized in strain functions see Specification B 210, and for seamless pipe and seamless extruded tube utilized in strain functions see Specification B 241.
1.2 Alloy and mood designations are in accordance with ANSI H35.1. The equal Unified Numbering System alloy designations are these of Desk 1 preceded by A9, for instance, A96061 for alloy 6061 in accordance with Apply E 527.
