1.0 Scope
This standard outlines the procedure for assigning numbers to Project Documents and
Drawings.

This numbering system assigns a unique number to each Document and Drawing.

In an Existing Plant, the assignment of Document and Drawing numbers shall be as per
respective Affiliate Numbering Procedure.
SABIC E&PM approval shall be required for assignment of any number.

2.0 Document Numbering System Format
2.1 Tag Related Documents:

Drawing and Document Numbering System in Buildings, Plants and Refineries

Unit Number: This is two (2) digit numbers, the assignment of numbers shall be as
follows:
a) New Plants: EPC contractor shall assign unit numbers to the specific plant. This
numbers shall be from 00 to 99.
b) New Area in Existing Plants: SABIC E&PM will assign the Unit numbers for grass
root area in existing plant upon request from EPC contractor.
When a document covers more than one unit, use unit number for overall plant or offsite
and utilities, as appropriate.
Discipline Identifier: This is single character alpha code. For list of Discipline Identifier,
refer to Table-I
Tag Number: This is a code with Maximum of Fourteen (14) alpha numerical characters
without the dashes.
All Tag related documents to be associated with equipment/ instrument tag.
Document Type Code: This is three (3) character alpha codes. For document Type
Codes, refer to Table-II.
Example: 20-R-20FV1234A-DS
