1.  SCOPE

This method covers the assembly and installation of excitation and isolation transformer to be implemented in – Electrical Installation Works.
This procedure will be applied to the inspection, method, and criteria for installation work carried out
by the Electrical Department. The work site personnel must review the feasibility and applicability of
this method relative to the actual site condition and approved field changes.

4 AUTHORITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Manager Determine all requirements needed in order to comply with contractual requirements and safety standards.
Electrical Superintendent Ensure that work once started is carried out as planned and that the applicable standards are complied with. Check working methods and precautions to be taken by the supervisors/foreman before commencing work.

Field Engineer Ensure that all related works are carried out in accordance with approved Released for Construction drawings, specifications, schedule, quality and safety. Report to Construction Manager.
Safety Officer – Ensure that “Safety, Fire, Loss Prevention” program or Safety Plan was been implemented and monitored.
Supervisor/ Foreman -Supervise all field installations Reports to Electrical Superintendent.
QC Inspector He shall be responsible for conducting surveillance and inspection duties for work and ensuring quality compliance and efficient recording and reporting of results as required. He shall review all relevant documents, material conformance certificates and non-conformance reports and shall receive all internal requests for inspection from various sections of implementing work and prepare (RSI) Request for Site Inspection as per schedule work priorities and proceeds the Quality inspection with the Client, owner representative as required.

5 MATERIALS CONTROL

a) Ensure that materials and equipment are stored and handled in accordance with project and vendor requirements.
b) Checked if all supplied materials are in conformance with Purchase Order or Specifications or Drawings. Any discrepancies will be reported immediately to CGA Materials Department
c) When oil immersed transformer is delivered oil filled, the oil level will be checked to ensure no leakage.

6 INSTALLATION OF TRANSFORMERS

6.1 Transformer Mounting

a) Upon anival of transformer at site, the unit will be examined physically for visual damage and completeness.

b) Report has be made in the presence of forwarding agent and manufacturer if any damage occurred.

e) Check packing list for completeness.
d) If a shock recorder is attached to the transformer, the recorder must be checked immediately and inform the manufacturer if unusual readings are noted.
e) Unpack the transformer using proper tools. Accessories will be kept to the transport container until final assembly to avoid moisture absorption.
f) Store transformer insulating oil in accordance with the latest regulations & manufacturer’s recommendation until final oil filling.

g) Assist transport of the transformer to site.
h) Check the mounting orientation foundation.
i) Lin the transformer to its foundation using a suitable and approved heavy lifting procedure. Follow manufacturer’s lifting procedure and check outline drawing if any.
j) Fix all the fixing devices to its final position prior to assembly of accessories.

6.2 Transfonner Accessories

a) Unpack all transformer accessories; check for completeness and for visible damage.
b) Mount all accessories disassembled for transport as per drawing and manufacturer’s instruction.
e) Connect all electrical wirings for current transformers, supervisory equipment etc. as indicated in the circuit diagram.
d) Mount bushings carefully, check for proper alignment and cleanness.

7 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

a) Electrician’s standard tool box (pliers, spanners, screw drivers etc.)
b) Crane of suitable lifting weight, with complete lifting accessories
c) Hydraulic Jack
d) Measuring tape
e) Spirit level and plumb line
f) Calibrated Torque Wrench
g) Chain block
h) Warning sign and barricade tape
i) Electrical drill and drill bits
j) Scaffolding platform and ladder
k) Mechanical Grease

m) Compact drill (when applicable)

p) Fire extinguishing equipment

8 SAFETY PRECAUTION

a) All work activities to be performed in a safe manner following the Company Safety Policies
and Procedures. Safety checks are to be performed before any work is executed.
b) Ensure that work permit is obtained identifying the applicable work to be performed. Safety
requirements may also be
indicated in the work permit. It
must also be
kept available and
visible to work area.
c) Ensure that all personnel in adjacent areas throughout any system are made aware of the
activities and the hazard that could lead to potential danger.
d) Concern working personnel must always wear PPE such as safety hard hat, glasses, safety
shoes, hand gloves, cover all, etc. Close supervision of personnel must be done.
e) Perform daily toolbox or safety talk to keep all workers informed regarding safe procedure
and safety requirements.
f) Ensure that all tools lo be used are free from damage.
g) Observe and strictly follow safety procedure in working in an elevated area. Complete fall
protection equipment to be
used.
h) All grounding provision must be connected.

9 INSPECTION

All equipment will be checked for completeness and compliance to technical drawings prior to
successive tests. RSI for erections and mounting of equipment to be coordinated by CGA Q/QC
Inspector, who will implement the inspection program and notify all parties involved in advance of
the scheduled dates of inspection to enable them to participate. All relevant records must be signed
by the required parties and documents must be properly controlled and filed. Any approved changes
in the technical drawing and document must be as-built.

Step by Step Guide of the work plan

Explain in detail the steps that must be taken to ensure that the task is carried out safely (include drawing and sketches where required, include pre commencement of work activities and the work itself in a chronological manner)

A. Transport of materials loading & Unloading (Get approval to the security for access follow site speed limits follow proper traffic signs & signals, turn on hazards light. only competent and certified rigger and operator should do the lifting, ensure one flag man for traffic control during activity. Provide barricade with signage’s)

B. Installation and Assembly of Transformer (Ensure permit to work must be obtain, prior to start the activity. Conduct
toolbox talk prior to the task to be done. And wearing of PPE to all personnel. All tools and equipment is in good
condition. Competent person to perform the task. Manufacturer’s instruction is understood and followed. Proper handling
technique is observed. Third party calibration certificate for testing equipment. )

C. Daily housekeeping (Full supervision on the area remind personnel for safe working and good housekeeping on the area
should be done before and after the work )
