This article is about Fire Damper Functional Field Test (Static Testing) as per International Codes and standards.
Fire Damper Functional Field Test (Static Testing)
TEST PROCEDURE AND CHECKLIST
- “Fire Damper is properly installed. (SMACNA Appendix E, Component Testing part 1)”
- Close the fire damper by activation of the heat responsive device (manually releasing fusible link) where applicable. (SMACNA Appendix E, Component Testing part 1)
Note: Above applies to manual dampers” - Close the fire damper by sending a signal to a damper actuator where applicable (SMACNA Appendix E Static Testing part 1)
Note: Above applies to motor operated dampers and is done simultaneously with test of Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). - Restore the components and the system to their operating conditions. (SMACNA Appendix E, Completion of Tests part 1).
TEST RESULTS ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
- Fire Damper completely closed and latch automatically ( when latch is provided) upon activation of the heat responsive devices ( manually releasing fusible link).(SMACNA Appendix E Component Testing part 1)
- Damper actuator (where applicable) and damper functioned properly upon receiving a signal.(SMACNA Appendix E Static Testing part 1)
- All components and systems were restored to their operating condition with ease(SMACNA Appendix E Completion of Tests part 1)
- Test results are acceptable and in accordance with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards and contractual requirements.
