Fire Damper Functional Field Test (Static Testing)

This article is about Fire Damper Functional Field Test (Static Testing) as per International Codes and standards.

Fire Damper Functional Field Test (Static Testing)

TEST PROCEDURE AND CHECKLIST

  1. “Fire Damper is properly installed. (SMACNA Appendix E, Component Testing part 1)”
  2. Close the fire damper by activation of the heat responsive device (manually releasing fusible link) where applicable. (SMACNA Appendix E, Component Testing part 1)
Note: Above applies to manual dampers”
  3. Close the fire damper by sending a signal to a damper actuator where applicable (SMACNA Appendix E Static Testing part 1)
Note: Above applies to motor operated dampers and is done simultaneously with test of Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP).
  4. Restore the components and the system to their operating conditions. (SMACNA Appendix E, Completion of Tests part 1).

TEST RESULTS ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

  1. Fire Damper completely closed and latch automatically ( when latch is provided) upon activation of the heat responsive devices ( manually releasing fusible link).(SMACNA Appendix E Component Testing part 1)
  2. Damper actuator (where applicable) and damper functioned properly upon receiving a signal.(SMACNA Appendix E Static Testing part 1)
  3. All components and systems were restored to their operating condition with ease(SMACNA Appendix E Completion of Tests part 1)
  4. Test results are acceptable and in accordance with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards and contractual requirements.
