FLOW METER CURVES GUIDELINES

Scope
This guideline outlines when meter curves are required to be generated and
the conditions for acceptance.

Break In Period

The break in period before generation of a meter curve shall be as follows:

Condition Break in Period
New Meter 24 to 48 hours
After Maintenance or Inspection (no new parts) 12 hours
After Maintenance or Inspection ( new parts) 24 hours

Acceptance

New curves shall be linear to within 0.3% minimum to maximum of curve
points in the meter’s normal operating range and within 0.05% between
adjacent curve points.

Curve Points

For custody transfer applications the minimum no. of calibration points for a
given size meter are:

Meter size (Nominal) Number of Points
4 inch & below 5
6 inch to 12 inch 8
16 inch and larger 12
