GENERAL INSTALLATION NOTES ABOUT TRAY ASSEMBLY IN TOWER
a. Tray panels
Each adsorbent tower includes 3 types of trays:
• 1 upper tray.
• 11 intermediate trays (5 even and 6 odd trays).
• 1 lower tray.
Each tray is divided into equal width panels. 2 edges are supported by rings located on the shell and on the center-pipe. The 2 other edges are supported by the beams.
Only the upper and the lower trays are fastened to the beams (by studs concerning the upper tray, staples and clamps concerning the lower tray).
Spacing and tightness between the panels are ensured by glass fiber rope. Layers of rope are manually packed between panels.
In addition for upper and lower trays, angle plates are welded to the shell on the periphery and flats are seal welded between the panels.
After the rope packing on intermediate trays (IT), clips are welded according to a given pattern on the adjacent panel frame in order to reinforce the whole tray.
On each intermediate tray (IT) a glass fiber blanket is installed using a wire rope welded on the center pipe and angle plates welded on the nearest panels.
b. Internal piping
Upper and lower trays are connected to the injection and withdrawal distribution boxes. The connected pipes are welded for Lower Tray and bolted for Upper Tray.
Concerning Intermediate Trays, pipes are bolted to the flanges of the annular collector and distributor rings and to the panel nozzles.
c. Marking
i. Principle of marking
To prevent any confusion during installation, the following items must
be punch-marked at shop:
✓ Nozzles of the annular chambers.
✓ Internal piping.
✓ Panels.
Beams will be punch marked during their installation on site.
ii. Panels identification number
Identification numbers are punch-marked at the same location on each panel:
Upper face of the panel.
Upper part of the longer edge at about 450 mm from the flat side.
