1.0 Scope
This instruction outlines the procedure and standard to be followed for the development of Plot
Plans.

2.0 References
Reference is made in this standard to the following documents. The latest issues,
amendments and supplements to these documents shall apply unless otherwise indicated.

SABIC Engineering Standards (SES)
P01-E09 Plant Layout Spacing and Clearance.
C04-E01 Design Criteria for Surfacing, Paving and Roadways.

3.0 Drafting Requirements

– Drafting Standard

4.0 Arrangement
Plot plans are prepared to show the location of equipments, pipe racks, structures, buildings,
roads, ponds, Pits, Truck loading and unloading facilities, etc. The plot plans shall be laid out
in a way that they shall provide the necessary access to all areas for operation and
maintenance.

4.1 Equipment Layout

4.1.1 Refer to section 4.3 of SES P01-E09.
4.1.2 Locate all equipment by centre line coordinates using approved benchmark
coordinates. Equipments shall be numbered and identified.

4.2 Pipe Racks
4.2.1 All pipe racks shall be located using coordinate with relation to adjacent
facilities. Grid numbers shall be assigned in X & Y directions. Refer to Figure1
of
SES
P01-E09
for
spacing
distances
between
facilities
and
pipe
racks.

4.3 Structures
4.3.1 All structures shall be located using coordinates with related to adjacent
facilities. Grid numbers shall be assigned in “X” & “Y” directions. Refer to
Figure-1 of SES P01-E09 for spacing distances between equipment and main
structures.

4.3.2 Structures with each level with all equipments shall be shown separately.

Equipments shall be numbered and identified.

4.4 Buildings

4.4.1 Buildings such as main control room, secondary control rooms, operator
shelters, chemical storage buildings, substations etc. shall be located by
coordinates to a corner. Refer to Figure-1 of SES P01-E09 for spacing
distances between equipment and buildings.

4.4.2 All buildings shall be located near road for easy access.
4.5 Roads

Primary roads, secondary roads and tertiary roads shall be shown. Refer to Table –1
of SES C04-E01 for geometric and surface design criteria.

4.6 Ponds and Pits

Ponds and Pits shall be located by coordinates to a corner.

4.7 Truck Loading and Unloading Facilities

All truck loading and unloading facilities shall be shown and shall be located near road
for easy access. Loading and unloading facilities handling flammable commodities
shall be kept at a minimum of 61 meters from process equipments and 76 meters from
tankage.

4.8 Battery Limits, fence for flare, hazardous areas etc. Tank dikes and firewalls with
coordinates with relations to adjacent facilities shall be shown.
