The Indian standard code IS: 1343-1980 provides guidelines for high strength prestressed concrete cube tests, specifically focusing on the quality of materials used in prestressed concrete. As per this code, the minimum 28-day compressive strength requirements for concrete cubes of 15 cm size are 40 N/mm2 for pre-tensioned concrete and 30 N/mm2 for post-tensioned concrete. The characteristic strength of concrete, which is the strength below which not more than 5 percent of results are expected to fall, is also defined in this code.
The code provides guidelines for sampling and strength testing of concrete that will be used in prestressed concrete applications. These requirements are outlined in a table, which specifies the standard guidelines for sampling and strength testing of concrete in prestressed concrete construction.
