This article is about HVAC Air Filtration Devices Installation as per International Codes and standards.
HVAC Air Filtration Devices Installation
General
- Filter type and efficiency, shall be as specified in Construction Specifications
- Filters shall be placed at the location indicated on the Construction drawings
- HVAC systems of Communication Facilities shall have fresh air make-up filters (where fresh air make-up is used) and internal air recirculation filters.
- Viscous oil filters shall not be used for Communication Facilities.
- Differential pressure gauges shall be provided across the filter assemblies for essential operating facilities.
- Casing filter mounts or filters shall have seals to prevent air by pass
- Filters used during construction shall be cleaned or replaced
Air pre-filters and final-filters (Dust Filters)
- Built-up central HVAC systems shall be provided with pre-filters and final filters.
- Filters of packaged air handling units and filters of any residential HVAC system shall be replaceable media or washable material with a minimum 70 % weight arrestance rating.
- Pre-filters and final-filters shall be upstream of coils and fans.
- Access door shall be provided to every filter.
- In Group I, Divisions 1.1 and 1.2 Occupancies, Ventilation air system supply system serving sensitive areas shall be equipped with additional filters having minimum efficiencies of 90 percent downstream of cooling, coils, humidification equipment and the associated supply fan (UMC Para 402.3)
- The HVAC systems of all buildings containing electronic equipment shall be equipped with pre-filters and final filters. The pre-filters shall have a minimum of 25% dust spot efficiency and the final filters shall provide a minimum of 85% dust spot efficiency.
Chemical filters
- Chemical filters shall be provided within rooms where concentration of corrosive gases exceeds G1 classification level as defined in ISA S71.04.
Note: Whether the concentration of corrosive gases exceed G1 level or not shall be determined by SAPMT through proponent and/or Process Engineering Division.
