This article is about HVAC Air Moving / Cooling Valve and Apparatus Arrangement Installation as per International Codes and standards.
HVAC Air Moving / Cooling Valve and Apparatus Arrangement Installation
- Discharge check valves shall be provided immediately before the control valves and flow meters
- Strainers shall be provided immediately before the flow meter and control valve
- Pressure gauge shall be installed on the suction side of positive displacement compressors, complying with manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Pressure gauge shall be installed on the discharge side of positive displacement compressors, complying with manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Pressure gauge shall be installed on the oil side capable of measuring oil pump discharge pressure, complying with manufacturer’s recommendations
- Stop valves shall be installed in the refrigerant piping of a refrigeration system at the refrigerant outlet from a liquid receiver. See item A8 for exceptions (UMC section 1111.1.2)
- Stop valves shall be installed in the refrigerant piping of a refrigeration system at the refrigerant inlet of a pressure vessel containing liquid refrigerant and having an internal gross volume exceeding 3 cubic feet (85 L). See item A8 for exceptions (UMC section 1111.1.3).
- Stop valves shall be installed in the refrigerant piping of a refrigeration system at the inlet and outlet of a positive-displacement type compressor, compressor unit or condensing unit. (UMC section 1111.1.1)
EXCEPTIONS:
1. Systems with nonpositive-displacement compressors.
2. Systems having a pump-out receiver for storage of the charge.
3. Systems containing less than 110 pounds (50 kg) of Group A1 (see attachment No. 1 for Group A1 refrigerant)
4. Self-contained systems do not require a stop valve at the inlet of the receiver. - Each condensing unit shall be complete with all operational equipment, including solenoid valve, sight glass with cover, and cartridge type filter shall be provided on liquid lines.
- Contractor shall install any other devices shown on the Construction Drawings or required by the manufacturer on suction and discharge sides.
