HVAC Metal Duct, Hangers and Supports and Insulation Receiving

General

Delivered equipment and material shall be free of damage.

Metal Duct Hangers and Supports

Duct Hangers and Support material shall be in accordance with table 6-E of UMC (UMC Section 603). See attachment 5.

Duct Hangers and Support size and thickness shall be in accordance with table 6-E of UMC (UMC Section 603). See attachment 5.

Metal Ducts

  1. Duct wall thickness of the supplied sheet metals for positive pressure ducting systems shall be as per the attached table. See attachment 3 & 4 (UMC tables 6-A and 6-B)
  2. Duct wall thickness of the supplied sheet metal thickness for negative pressure ducting system shall be as per the attached table. See attached tables See attachment 1 & 2 (UMC tables 5-B & 5C)
  3. Galvanized steel sheet metal shall have a coating class of not less than G-90 (UMC Section 602)
  4. Grease ducts and plenums serving a Type I kitchen hood shall be constructed of at least 0.055-inch-thick (1.40 mm) (No. 16 manufacturers standard gauge) steel or stainless at least 0.044 inch (1.10 mm) in thickness. (UMC Para 507.3).

Metal Duct Insulation

  1. Faced insulation of metal ducts shall be legibly printed with the name of the manufacturer. (UMC Para 604.4)
  2. Faced insulation of metal ducts shall be legibly printed with the thermal resistance ® value at the installed thickness (UMC Para 604.4)
  3. Insulation applied to the exterior surface of ducts located in buildings shall have a flame spread index of not more than 25 and a smoke-density index not exceeding 50 (UMC 604.3)
  4. Faced insulation of metal ducts shall be legibly printed with the flame spread index and smoke-developed index of the composite material. (UMC Para 604.4).
