Lift stations with a capacity greater than 1800 m³/day, that are part of a community wastewater treatment collection system shall be the wet-well / dry-well type. Smaller lift stations may be wet well if the lift pumps are either submersible or self priming. See Attachment 1
Wastewater lift stations shall be designed & built per SAES-S-010 and SAES-S-020, as applicable.
Wastewater lift stations shall be built so that they will not be subject to stormwater flooding. A suitable superstructure, located off the right-of-way of streets and alleys, shall be provided.
Lift stations shall be readily accessible for maintenance and cleaning.
There shall be no physical connection between any potable water supply and a wastewater lift station, which under any conditions might cause contamination of the potable water supply.
Sanitary wastewater lift station located in residential area or within 60 meters of a place of work requires an odor control system.

SAES-A-020 Requirements

Lift station sumps shall be of airtight construction and shall be provided with venting per SAIC-S-2001.
Interior of concrete lift station sumps shall be painted in accordance with SAES-H-101, APCS-3.
Exterior concrete surfaces exposed to ground water shall be protected with a 3-coat mastic, 2-layer felt or a 2-coat mastic and polyethylene coating.
