Material Specification ASTM A 333/A 333M. Grade: 6.

ASME B36.10M.
Purchase Order See purchase order for DN or NPS, schedule or weight class or wall thickness, lengths in millimeters or inches, number of pieces, and delivery and shipping instructions.
Lengths Lengths shall be as specified in the purchase order.
Tolerances ASTM A 333/A 333M.
Drawings Not required.
Calculations Not required.
Chemical Composition ASTM A 333/A 333M, Grade 6.

Also by ladle analysis the carbon content shall be 0.23% maximum and Supplementary Requirement S2 is required.

Mechanical Strength ASTM A 333/A 333M, Grade 6. The maximum tensile strength shall not be more than 565 N/mm2 (81 ksi).
Welding Not allowed.
Heat Treatment ASTM A 333, Grade 6.
Inspection ASTM A 333/A 333M. Inspection is not required unless specified in the purchase order or required by the certification for this specification.
Testing ASTM A 333/A 333M, Grade 6. Special impact tests are not required.
Examination ASTM A 333/A 333M.

NDT shall be performed by suitably qualified personnel who must be approved by a Third Party Organization recognized by a Member State according to Article 13 of either the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)

97/23/EC or national legislation implementing PED 97/23/EC. A person suitably qualified as above shall sign the NDT reports.

Certification Items DN25 (NPS 1) and smaller shall be provided with an EN 10204 Type 3.1 inspection certificate.

Certification for all other items shall be one of the following:

•   EN 10204 Type 3.2 inspection certificate also certified by a representative.

•   EN 10204 Type 3.1 inspection certificate from material manufacturers that have quality assurance systems certified by a competent body established in the European Community.

Representative may be from any Inspection Body acceptable to Company. The supplier shall contact Inspection Department to establish who may be Air Products’ representative when applicable.

 

For items manufactured outside the European Community, copies of the NDT reports and the NDT personnel qualifications shall be included in the documentation with the material certification. For items manufactured within the European Community, only copies of NDT reports shall be included with the material certification providing all the other documentation is retained by the supplier for a minimum of 12 years.

Marking ASTM A 333/A 333M. Marking shall also include the Commodity Code. Also see General Piping Material Purchase Specification.
Protection Nipples shall be delivered free from corrosion or oxidation. A protective coating of light oil or varnish corrosion inhibitor may be used. This inhibitor shall be easily removable, and the supplier shall state with his quotation the method for removal.
Color Coding Not required.
Packing Shipment and Packing Specification for Equipment and Materials. Suitable packing shall be provided to ensure that all items arrive at the contractual point of delivery in an undamaged condition. Refer to the purchase order for specific packing standards and instructions.
Special Requirements Repair welding is not acceptable.
Application Notes Low-temperature steel, seamless pipe nipples for the PED. Pressure: As calculated. Temperature: -29° to +427°C (-20° to +800°F).
