1.0 Scope
1.1 This guideline outlines requirements for Mechanical Catalog to be furnished by
Contractor as a ready reference for company’ s personnel in running and maintaining
the plant.
1.2 The mechanical catalog is a compilation of As-built drawings and data intended to
assist Company’s personnel in running and maintaining the plant in safe engineering
wise manner. It also provided information necessary for future check of equipment
performance for planning facility expansion etc. Commissioning and Start-Up manual
shall be available in advance to be used during start-up.
2.0
Information Security
Where the information concerning operating variables, operating sequences, or other data is
proprietary to either Company or an outside process licensor, contractor shall ensure that information
security is maintained during preparation of the Mechanical Catalog. Refer to Section 4.1.5
Information Security of Project Execution Instruction (PEI).
3.0 References
Reference is made in this standard to the following documents. The latest issues,
amendments and supplements to these documents shall apply unless otherwise indicated.

4.0 Content & Indexing
Contractors shall submit complete Mechanical Catalogue Index indicating their required
format and As-built status.
The Mechanical Catalogue shall consists of the following parts :
4.1 Part I : Engineering Manual
Engineering Manual shall contain all Engineering Drawings/Documents generated for
the Project by Contractors and its Subcontractor and shall be in As-built condition.
4.1.1
Summary Index : This Index contains summarization of all
drawings/documents compiled in the Engineering Manual. This shall
indicate Section No, Subsection No, Description , Detail Index Page No.
and Binder Volume No.
4.1.2
Detail Index : This Index contains complete
listing of all
Drawings/Documents under each section and subsection. This shall
indicate Drawings/Document No., Revision No, Title , Document Format,
As-built Status and Binder Volume No.
4.2 Part II : Vendor Manual
4.2.1
Vendor Manual shall contain As-Built Drawings/Documents. of vendor as
submitted by them during the Project Phase.

4.2.2
The Index for this part shall indicate the Section No. Drawing No.
Revision No. Drawing Title and Binder Volume No.

4.3 Part III – Equipment Installation, Operating and Maintenance Manual
4.3.1
The Manual shall contain Vendor Data , Instruction, Drawings, Operating
Sequence and Spare Parts List & Interchangeability records which
contractor is required to furnish as ready reference for all equipments. It
is intended to assist in the Initial Start-Up of New or Modified facilities
and to add company personnel in subsequent Operation , Maintenance
and Inspection. It also provides information necessary for future checks
of equipment performance or for planning expansion or redesign.
4.3.2
The Manual shall be in reproducible form and strictly in English
Language .
4.3.3
The Index for this part shall indicated section no. Equipment No,
Equipment / Service Name. Vendor Name Document No. and Binder
Volume no.

4.4 Part IV – Construction Manual
4.4.1
The manual shall contain Construction Scope of Work, Construction
Procedures (including SHE) , Inspection Test Plans, WPS/PQR’s
Deviations / Waivers, Quality Packages, Turnover Packages Etc.
4.4.2
The Index for this part shall indicate Section No. Discipline, Document
No., Document Title and Binder Volume No.
4.4.3
Index for Quality Packages and Turnover Packages shall be by system
Sub-System.

4.5 Part V – Project Management Documents Manual
4.5.1
This manual shall contain General Project Information and Project
Execution Instructions.
4.5.2
The index for this part shall indicate Section No. Document No.,
Document Title and Binder Volume No.

4.6 Part VI – Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Manual
4.6.1
This manual shall contain System Definition Pre-Commissioning
Procedure, Check and Test documents, Commissioning Procedures,
Commissioning Plan etc..
4.6.2
The index for this part shall indicate Section No. Document No,
Document Title and Binder Volume No.

4.7 Part VII – Training Manual
4.7.1
This manual shall contain training materials for the provision of training
and project familiarization services to plant operation and maintenance
personnel.
4.7.2
The index for this part shall indicate Section No. Document No,
Document Title and Binder Volume No.
5.0 Compilation of Mechanical Catalogue
5.1 Mechanical Catalogue shall include all Drawings/Documents prepared by the
Contractors, Subcontractor as well as Vendors.
5.2 All pages shall be standard (210 x 297 mm) size or approximate multiples thereof.
Pages larger than (210 x 297 mm) shall preferably be (297 x 420 mm) to facilitate
binding.
5.3 Plot Plans, P&I Diagrams, Electrical One-Line, and Instrument Loop Diagrams shall
be reduced to a size no greater than (297 x 420 mm) and shall be clearly legible at
their reduced size. Other drawings larger than (297 x 420 mm) shall be folded and
inserted in individual (210 x 297 mm) pockets which shall have standard three-ring
(four ring) side punching for insertion in the binders. The requisition and sheet
number, Flow Plan Symbol Number or item number, and the number of the drawing
shall be written on the face of each containing pocket.
5.4 All Vendors Drawings/Documents for Equipment shall be arranged and sorted out by
Equipment Numbers and shall contain all pertinent data for each Equipment.
5.5 Vendor data, including Calculations, which are common to more than one equipment
shall be complied under separate Section called “Common Documents” and shall be
indexed. Proper cross referencing under each Section/ Sub-Section shall be made
for easy retrieval.
5.6 Any document which has been assigned a Document Number shall be included in
Mechanical Catalogue in their respective Part and Section.
5.7 Entries such as “Miscellaneous” ,”Other” shall be eliminated and more specific entries
shall be specified.
5.8 Each volume of the Mechanical Catalog shall contain a complete table of contents
covering the contents of all volumes making up the catalog,
5.9 Volumes shall be numbered sequentially so that there shall be no duplication or
omission of volume numbers in any catalog.
5.10 The first volume of each Part shall have its own Summary Index followed by Detail
Index.
5.11 The first volume of each Section shall have its own Summary Index followed by
Detail Index.
5.12 Volume number shall be indicated to the right side of each index paragraph number.
5.13 Each volume shall have a hard paper top cover bearing exactly the same title printout
as in the front cover of Binder.
5.14 Dividers shall be provided in each volume for Section /Sub-sections with white colors
with appropriate identification tab.

5.15 Equipment which are provided by the Construction Contractors and which are
assigned an Equipment Number shall be included in indexes and related Part of the
Mechanical Catalogue.
5.16 All drawings and documents provided in the Mechanical Catalogue shall be based on
“As-Built” condition. If any data, which was previously marked by the vendors as “AsBuilt”
is
revised
to
suit
the
conditions
during
construction,
design,
or
testing
shall
be

revised
to
“As-Built”
condition
reflecting
such
revisions.
5.17 Contractor shall not assume vendors “As-Built” stamp on data as the final condition.
Each drawing and data shall be reviewed to assure its true “As-Built” status.
5.18 Vendor Drawings/Documents for Package Units shall include all pertinent data for
each Mechanical Equipment and components. Electrical Equipment and all
Instrumentation related to package units such as : Vendor P&ID’s , Equipment Data
Sheets, Control System Data Sheets, Safety Valve Data Sheets with cross sectional
drawings, Equipment Calculations, Performance Curves for Compressors and
Pumps, Assembly and detail drawings for Equipment, Data Sheets for Electrical
Equipment, Motor Data Sheets, Vendor Drawings/Data for all Electrical Equipment.
Instrument Data Sheets, Instrument Loop Diagrams, Vendor drawings/data for all
instrumentation , etc.
5.19 Binders
5.19.1 Binder for Part – I , II & III
Binders shall be black imitation leather-covered with gold block lettering
per Table 1. Binders should have 3 inch minimum capacity with 2 inch
free extendibility, a center locking post, and 3 binding posts for papers
and shall be approximately (not exceeding) 250 mm by 315 mm in size.
Binders shall be equal to either:

Binders shall be black imitation leather-covered with gold block lettering
per Table 1. Binders shall have backbone and four (4) pins each 100 mm
long, shall be approximately (not exceeding) 245 x 315 mm in size, and
shall be only 80% filled.

5.19.2 Binder for Part IV, V, VI & VII
Binder shall be Hard Covered files with 3 Inch minimum capacity with 2
or 4 binding posts for papers and shall be approx. 250 x 350 mm in size
and shall be 80% filled.

Notes:
(1) Company will furnish information to Contractor regarding desired lettering, whenever
required; except that Contractor will always use its corporate title for front cover position 3,
and for backbone positions 9 and 10.
(2) Disregard backbone positions 3, 4A, 8 and 9 if only one line is required in each case.
(3) Numbers in parentheses indicate suggested dimensions in millimeters for mechanical
catalogs in standard metric sizes.
(4) Sample of Binders shall be provided for part review and approval
