How to Set Up an Authenticator on a New Phone

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Go to the Microsoft Authentication Page

The first step is to go to the Microsoft authentication page. Here you will be prompted to log in with your Microsoft work account.

Step 2: Authorize Your Login

When prompted to authorize your login with a Microsoft Authenticator app, select “Sign in another way”. You will then be able to choose one of your alternate authorization methods such as having a text message sent to your new phone.

Step 3: Enter the Code

Once you have received the code in the text message, enter the code and select “Verify”.

Step 4: Delete the Old Method

Once you have verified the code, you will need to delete the old Microsoft Authenticator method.

Step 5: Add the New Method

Next, select “Add method”, verify that the Authenticator app is selected, and choose to “Add”.

Step 6: Download the Microsoft Authenticator App

Now you need to download the Microsoft Authenticator app. Select “Next”, and then “Next” again. Your monitor will display a QR code.

Step 7: Scan the QR Code

On your mobile device, tap “Add Account”, choose “Work or School Account”, and accept any requested permissions. Use your mobile device to scan the QR code on your monitor, then select “Next”. Return to your mobile device and tap to approve.

Step 8: Complete Registration

Your new device is now registered with your organization. Congratulations!

Step 9: Use your mobile device to scan the QR code on your monitor, then select “next.” Return to your mobile device and tap “approve.”
