When performing maintenance or operation on electrical equipment, it is important to ensure that there is sufficient space to do so safely. If there are exposed energized parts, the minimum clear work space should be at least 2.0 meters high (measured vertically from the floor or platform) or 914 mm (3 ft) wide (measured parallel to the equipment). The depth should meet the requirements of NEC 110.34(A). Additionally, the work space should allow for the opening of doors or hinged panels to at least 90 degrees.

  7. All circuit breakers and fuses must be of the correct size and rating for the circuit.
  8. All wiring and equipment must be properly labeled to identify the circuit.
  9. All receptacles and switches must be mounted and installed in accordance with the NEC.
  10. All switchgear, panelboards, and switchboards must be of the specified type and size and must be installed in accordance with the NEC.
