Pre-Fabrication/Production Requirements

Specification Details / Notes:

General Requirements: See Note 3, for A376, A430, A335 and A524.
Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records(PQR), and Welder / welding Operator Performance Qualifications (WPQ). Shall be submitted for approval per ASME Section IX. for welded pipe.

In process inspection & test requirement

Material Test Reports
Heat Treatment A376, A335, A430, A524:  Refer to the specifications for details.
Chemical Analysis Per relevant ASTM.
Product Analysis See Note 4.
Transverse or Longitudinal Tension Test A335, A376, A430, A524, See ASTM for details.
Flattening Tests or Bend Test Compliant to ASTM requirements.

Final inspection & test requirements

Specification Details / Notes:

Product Marking Per applicable ASTM.
Hydrostatic Test A335, A376 and A524. Shall be examined in accordance with A530.
Dimensions; Weight, Diameter & Thickness and Lengths A376; A335, A430; A524: All grades shall meet A530 and the relevant ASTM.

Additional/Supplemental Requirements

Specification Details / Notes:

Etching Test Applicable to the following grades only; A312 = S4; A376 = S4; A430 = S4. Test per ASTM E381, E340 table 6. Sample size per ANSI Z1.4 Level 1, AQL 0.65
Stabilizing Heat Treatment Applicable to the following grades only; A376 = S9; A430 = S10.

 

Notes:

  • May only be waived by the responsible Saudi Aramco, ASC, or AOC Inspection
  • See form SA175 – 000003 for instructions on using this
  • a) A376: Covers seamless austenitic steel pipe intended for high-temp. central-station service. Five ’H’ grades and two nitrogen grades are covered. Pipe to be heat treated unless purchase order (PO) states
    1. A430: Covers heavy-wall, forged and bored austenitic steel pipe intended primarily for high-temp. central station service. Eleven grades are covered. See PO for heat treatment
    2. A335: Seamless Ferritic Alloy pipe for high temperature
    3. A524: Covers seamless carbon steel pipe intended primarily for service at atmospheric and lower temperatures, 1/8″ to 26″
  • A376: An analysis of one billet, or one length of flat rolled stock from each heat, or two pipes for each lot shall be made by the manufacturer (MFG).

A335, A524 & A430:  An analysis of two pipes from each lot shall be made.
