Through-The-Wall and Window Mounted Air Conditioners (Room Air Conditioners) Receiving, Handling, storage and Preservation
Receiving
- Delivered unit(s) to the Job site is (are) free of damages.
- Unit Capacity shall be in accordance with Issued for Construction Drawings and Specifications
- Type of motor shall be in accordance with Purchased Order (P.O.)
Note: There are Usually two types that are specified for Room Air Conditioners
1- The low efficiency shaded pole type
2- Permanent split-Capacitor type” - Air impellers type shall be in accordance with Purchased Order (P.O.)
Note: Air Impellers are usually two types
1- Forward curve blower wheel
2- Axial or radial flow fan blade”
Handling, Storage and Preservation
Verify that approved procedures for handling, storage and preservation lists all the required inspection schedules for maintaining the quality of the Fans.
Through-The-Wall and Window-Mounted Air Conditioners (Room Air Conditioners) Installation
- Around each Air Conditioner Unit and its attachment to the window or wall, shall be properly sealed as per manufacturer’s Installation Manual
- Units shall be adequately supported in accordance with Issued for Construction Drawings and Specifications, and Manufacturer’s Installation Manual.
- Units shall be grounded in accordance with Issued for Construction Drawings
- Unit is mounted as shown (Inside flush mounting, outside flush mounting, balance mounting, etc) and/or Specified in the Issued for Construction Drawings and Specifications, and Manufacturer’s Installation Manual.
- Window track, sash, and sill shall be in good condition for installing the window mounted type units
- Wall opening for through the wall units shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements/recommendations and or IFC Drawings.
