Scope
This guideline provides the actions to be taken during partial or complete
failure of the sampling system.
SAMPLING SYSTEM FAILURE
Frequency Whenever the sampling system is found to have failed to provide
representative sampling as explained in the guideline below.
Procedure 1. MARINE SYSTEMS
For marine loading systems, in the event of sample probe in one (1) loading
arm fails and more than one loading arm is being used, sampling may
continue. However, Control Room Operator must shut down the loading arm
that contains the failed probe. Do not use this loading arm for any loading until
the failed probe has been repaired. The remaining probe controllers will make
the corrective flow adjustment.
In the event of failure of all sampler probes on a crude grade being loaded, the
Supervising Operator shall note the time on the Royalty Metering Component
Failure Log and on the Sampler Performance Record. Also to notify the
Government Representative.
In the event all sampler probes on a crude grade being loaded are inoperative
and are shut down, Samples will be collected according to Manual Sampling
Procedure No. 030
2. PIPELINE SYSTEMS
In the event of pipeline system failure. Samples will be collected according to
Manual Sampling Procedure No. 030
A decision will be made by Saudi Aramco and the Government representative
if the sample contained in the receiver shall be used analyzed also with the
manual samples for determination of the sample BS&W and density.
