Telephone System Technical UPS Equipment Requirements
4.1 The selected CONTRACTOR shall provide UPS Equipment for the PABX system. This UPS Equipment shall be mounted in the same 23-inch cabinets that the PABX system equipment is housed.
4.2 The UPS Equipment shall be sized to power the PABX equipment for each communications room where active PABX system equipment is installed for a minimum of one (1) hour.
4.3 The PABX equipment in the General Services Building communications room, with the exception of the voicemail system, shall be powered by a UPS sized to provide a minimum of eight (8) hours battery back-up. The voicemail system UPS shall be sized to power the voicemail system for a minimum of one (1) hour.
4.4 The UPS Equipment shall have communications capability through a standard communications protocol, such as SNMP, to warn connected equipment when main power fails as well as when the battery level reaches a predefined “low” state.
4.5 The PABX equipment, therefore, must have the capability of accepting and acting on communications from the UPS system. On communication of a low battery alarm, the PABX Equipment shall shut down in an orderly fashion.
