01-SAMSS-022Fracture Control Testing Procedures for Line Pipe
The 01-SAMSS-022 specification outlines the procedures for conducting fracture toughness testing on line pipe that is procured in accordance with 01-SAMSS-035 and 01-SAMSS-038. It applies to pipes with nominal diameters equal to or larger than 4 inches and wall thicknesses ranging from 6.3 mm to 38 mm (0.25 to 1.5 inches).
These pipes are used in cross-country pipelines, offshore pipelines, flowlines, and trunklines at design temperatures above 0ºC. The testing methods specified in this document follow the guidelines of API SEPC 5L, with modifications as stated.
This specification should be included with relevant requisitions, quotation requests, and purchase orders. However, it does not apply to in-plant piping, which should undergo impact testing according to ASME B31.3 and SAES-L-130.
