01-SAMSS-029RTR (Fiberglass) Sewer Pipe and Fittings for Gravity Flow
The 01-SAMSS-029 specification outlines the requirements for fiberglass pipe used in gravity flow systems for conveying sanitary sewage, storm water, and certain chemical and industrial wastes. The specification covers two types of fiberglass pipe: glass-fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin pipe (RTRP) and glass-fiber-reinforced plastic-mortar pipe (RPMP).
These pipes, along with their couplings, fittings, and spools, are made of polyester, vinyl ester, or epoxy resin with unrestrained and restrained joints. Throughout the specification, the term “RTR pipe” is used to refer to both RTRP and RPMP. The minimum temperature rating for the pipe, couplings, fittings, and spools is set at 49°C (120°F).
It’s important to note that this specification does not apply to fiberglass pipe used in pressure water services applications, as those are covered by 01-SAMSS-034. Additionally, RTRP pipe intended for use in process water, injection water, and hydrocarbon services applications is not covered by this specification; for such applications, refer to 01-SAMSS-042.
