01-SAMSS-025Specification for Heavy Duty Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) Lined Carbon Steel Pipe and Fittings
The 01-SAMSS-025 Specification outlines the requirements for ASME/ANSI class 150 and 300 heavy duty PTFE and PFA lined carbon steel flanged pipe and fittings used for transporting corrosive fluids such as acids and alkaline solutions.
The specification covers pipe sizes ranging from NPS 1 to 20 inches. The maximum allowable working pressure for Class 150 is based on the corresponding ANSI pressure-temperature rating, while for Class 300, it is specified at different temperature ranges.
Prior to lining, all carbon steel parts undergo grit blasting to achieve a near white surface. The lined pipe and fittings are designed with fixed and/or rotating flanges depending on their location. They are capable of handling full vacuum service at a temperature of 180°C (356°F).
Special considerations are required when operating at temperatures above 200°C or below 0°C. Solvent-based fluids should not be conveyed through non-antistatic fluorocarbon lined carbon steel piping systems to prevent sparks and potential ignition.
Each fluorocarbon lined section is equipped with at least one vent hole for pressure testing and as a leakage indicator. It is important to note that this specification does not cover all the provisions necessary for a complete contract.
