01-SAMSS-039Induction Pipe Bends
The 01-SAMSS-039 specification pertains to shop-fabricated pipe induction bends for pipelines governed by ASME B31.4 and ASME B31.8. These bends are fabricated following the guidelines of ASME 16.49, with certain modifications outlined in the specification. For ASME B31.3 applications, the requirements for process piping bends are covered in Section VI.
This specification specifically addresses two types of pipe bends: S-shapes and 3-dimensional pipe bends with a radius equal to or greater than 3 times the pipe diameter (3D).
It’s important to note that certain items are excluded from this specification. This includes cold bends used in cross-country pipeline construction, which are fabricated in the field or yards. Additionally, standard elbows and process piping bends with a 3D radius or lower are not covered by this specification, as they are manufactured in accordance with ASME B16.9.
